i know some of us think that animals shouldn't be a part of our lives (*cough* lobstrosity *cough*) but in canada they are slaughtering seals and even here in the U.S. companies and restaraunts have stopped buying sea food from canada and are picketing. what are people's views on this? is it right to kill the seals or not?

Are the seals endangered? If they are, then that's not cool, but if there are lots of seals, then people have a right to earn a living by hunting them and killing them. It's fine that some people stop buying seafood because of it, but they shouldn't picket really. If the only reason they are picketing in the first place is because the seals are cute, that's just sad.
btw, I never said animals shouldn't be a part of our lives.

Are the seals endangered? if they're not endangered, why is it a problem? (asking chica)

Plus an over seal population can have undesired effects on the fish for fisherman and seals.
We have to kill the seals or else theyll die.

If they are endangered they should be compleately left alone, but I dont see the problem of hunting them and killing them in moderation.

yeah sorry havn't been on in a while and I see your point like it would be weird if people all of a sudden just said "no killing cows" even though they aren't endangered and we are getting food. I will have to check it out and i'll get back to yall on it.

79% of the sealers did not check to see if an animal was dead before skinning it. In 40% of the kills a sealer had to strike the seal a second time, presumably because it was still conscious after the first blow or shot. 42% of killed seals examined were found to have minimal or no fractures, suggesting a high probability that these seals were conscious when skinned
when they are killing these animals they are babies that are just weeks or days old and they are clubbed to death and even skinned while still alive. it is not because they are becoming extinct that we need to worry and stand against it, it is how they are treated. they are clubbed and bled to death adn even dragged across the ice. this is wrong and you know it!

No, it's not wrong and I don't know it. As long as the seals in general are fine, we can bleed them seals to death all we want for all I care. Sorry about that Chica, but don't look for any support from me on this topic. I just don't seem to care that much about seals. That's my official stance on this topic.

maybe I should bleed you to death and skin you alive? wouldn't that be fun? why do you not care? they are living things and they deserve to be killed humanely even if people are gonna eat them.

Skin me alive? Go ahead and try it, I dare ya! Why do seals deserve to be killed humanely? Because they're alive? That's not enough reason, lots of things are alive.

Thats because flowers can regrow and regenerate. And if a flower is picked its not slow its mostly fast. Gardeners actually cut flowers so they can grow even more beautiful. Seals are animals just as we are. If you are against animal abuse *cough GENZICAN cough* then you can't be for seals being hit basicly with a bat so they're knocked out and then dragged across the ice and then skinned alive so they bleed to death. Its wrong and you all know it so stop arguing. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THEY'RE ONLY BABIES

Okay, it would be nice of them to make sure the seals are dead before skinning them, but if it saves time to skin them alive, then who cares?

ME AND CHICA. IT ISN'T RIGHT. IF ones job is to kill things then why not make it easy and do it fast?
