i think that, like azan said, the whole eye for an eye thing is just stupid. it's not going to help you at all by killing the person that killed someone else. the death penalty will not deter crime, the people that kill are bent on doing so, no matter what the consequences.

Yes and also there is no proven evidence of the DP deterring crime, in fact most states without the DP actualy have less crime/murders than states with the DP.

yeah, not to mention the fact that no one truly "deserves" to die. then again, who is to judge who deserves to and who doesn't? jesus? exactly

Are your sources reliable? Who told you that states without death penalty have less crime?

Are your sources reliable? Who told you that states without death penalty have less crime? This one show on the History Channel, and that one website that we used for the DP, which is official.

just wanna quote someone here "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" Ghandi i am against the death penalty and I believe this quote. no matter what the crime is a criminal shouldn't be killed cuz he killed someone. it's just one more death. it won't bring back the victim or help any.

could prevent more murders...

it just shows the other murders what the consequences COULD be if they get caught. the only thing it does is tell other murderers to not get caught. it doesn't stop crime it just tells them not to get caught or they are dead.

fear of getting caught makes people less likely to commit crime

yeah but what about the fact that it costs more to execute someone than to keep them in prison for life?

Only because the system can't be refined enough when people keep complaining about it.

death penelty doesn't deter murders, statistics have shown that, in adition, if someone murders someone else, they are either crazy, or think they can get away with it. No one is gonna murder someone because they think that 30 years to life in prision is a fair trade off, just as no one will with death for kill. The fact of the matter is that murderors do it because they dont care about conciquences no matter what they were, or because they do belive the wont get caught... and thus the punishment if they do has no effect on the psycie of one.
