Okay, you're right about the crazies, but it will cause regular people to think twice. Like if a guy doesn't like his wife and doesn't want to get divorced (seems all too common nowadays) and decides to cut her up and bury her somewhere because he's an idiot, he might think twice if he does that in Texas.

yes except for federal cases like treason assasination etc., I was tought to follow what the bible tought always and it says several times that no one has the right to take away anothers life, even his own(yes yes whenever I say that every one immediatly assumes im catholic which I am ), and I also believe that eye for an eye is just foolish and childlike, killing someones killer will not bring the other one back, but thats just my opinion

aww... happy forum... i think that we should not have the death penalty, except in special cases, like that guy that killed and dismembered 16 boys.

if someone is set on killing another human, they are going to do it no matter what the offence. The fact that they risk death vs. risking 30 years to life in prision isnt' enough of a jump to be even the slight bit of a deterant if the person is going to kill someone. In fact, it can be argued that the life imprisionment is worse than death because death is an excape from captivity...
And treason is not a good case to use it in, as that can be abused greatly to gain political power.

Well by treason I mean like if you killed a president or something, if we didnt use the DP then it would happen more often, our constitution prevents people from gaining too much power.

I just disagree with Gamerman here. I only think that only die-hard crazies would kill someone regardless of death. Death is not an escape from captivity. Nobody knows what death is like, and therefor, death is unknown. Most people would rather not kill someone if it meant death, because fear of death is the fear of the unknown...

Yes but some people would actualy consider it an escape, or cry for help in its own twisted way, these are the uber crazy people

And the crazy people are the ones we should get rid of, what's the problem?

well death penelties haven't stopped murders yet, the murder counts in states with the death penelty are just as high, and sometimes even higher, than those without death penelty... And this is with most major (thus higher crime) cities being in states where death penelty is either not allowed or extreamly limited.
