NO
we already have enough people out there who are volunteers we don't need to force people we think they are growing thin but what is really happening is that we are not managing them wisely. I mean we have enough well skilled people fighting for us from their own free will why should we go and force people?

Suppose we get into another war. If our infantry is stretched thin as the result of two consecutive wars, then what if one of the many countries that hate us decide to come marching in and kill us?

i mean yeah I agree with you and mr. christiansen (that is where you heard that I assume) that if we do get into that kind of situation we will have no other choice but what I am saying now is that we don't need it. we are not that desperate just yet

Okay, so right now we don't need it. Would you have voted differently if we were currently at war with two countries?

if we were in such dire jeopardy and if we really really really really really would've needed it I would. I mean even with the governments money usually I wouldn't give a lot to the military cuz I like HELPING PEOPLE NOT KILLING HTEM better but now that we are in a war that is where I would give the money cuz we need it like I would support a draft if we need it which we don't right now

But you do realize that we are drawing ever closer to war with North Korea, and that we are getting closer to a point at which we are going to need a draft.

yes and sadly I would really really not want one cuz I don't like to see ANYONE DIE (including murderers) and I would hate having to see family and friends go commit suicide cuz that's what you're really doing when you go into war. I mean yes it's all for your country but still it's suicide.

in response to lobstrosity, if we were in such a situation that it would be necessary to use a draft, or our citizens would be in extreme danger, then yes, I would support a draft.

I say, its an americans duty to his country to serve the country, even if it means death, but I only think we should have a draft if there is a war on US soil, we cant force people to kill other people when they arent defending their own people.

We can defend US citezens without fighting on US soil.

Thats true, I meant for a direct threat on US soil

but then we would be on u.s. soil anyway and what does it matter? I mean there are still men getting killed out there no matter where they are.

Yes and that's probably not going to change. We can't really abolish war or anything like that.
