there is bias in movies. it might be very obvious but its there. and the media is very biased. why do u think people like certain stations. it's because they have the same views as the person watching it.

there is bias in everything! you can't escape it, it's just a fancy word for having an opinion and everywhere you look there is bias. maybe it's in favor of liberals or conservatives but no matter what there will always be bias.
and as bad-mokey says there is bias in movies and there was even a question about star wars 3 being related to the bush administration! how weird can you get??

But the liberal bias in all the media is not a result of politicians. It just gets into TV and movies because it makes for a good message, but it ends up warping people's minds.

But there isn't a subliminal conservative bias anywhere. There aren't any movies with pro- DP messages at the end. There aren't any shows that have their moral be that we should remove gun control laws. Nobody wants to see a movie or show like that, so there aren't any out there.

Sure, all the time.
As mentioned before, Minority Report carried a heavy anti- DP message with it. Other movies have similar messages, because the Liberal messages are usually the compassionate ones that really make big bucks.

Are you sure about that? On the surface it might seem pro-DP, maybe, but really take a closer look at it next time. IDK though, I never watched it. But what I'm saying is, do they really try to show how the death penalty is good? Or do they just solve cases and catch criminals and the death penalty is not the main point. You always have to look at what the main point is. I doubt it would be very popular if they clearly were trying to make the death penalty look good.
Nobody wants to watch a movie with a conservative theme.

true as you proved to me in gov. today but how does minority report have anti-DP messages?

Well, instead of using the DP as punishment, when they catch someone who is going to commit a future murder, they put them into hibernation and store them.

yes but as they proved there it doesn't neccesarily happen I mean what if they came to their senses and changed the idea of murdering them? so idk. but I think it's good they got rid of the dp even if they found a way that didn't do a really good idea.

In the movie I don't think anyone ever woke up, but I would still be for the death penalty even if we could put people to sleep like that. (not if we could arrest them for future murders though, because they wouldn't have done anything.)
People who kill other people don't deserve to live. Unless they kill a killer because that's justice at work.

Without A Trace is another anti-DP show, they did an entire episode on how some innocent guy was about to be executed, and the man with the evidence to prove the other guy's innocence is on the way to the prison when the show ends. they never show whether or not he lives, so it makes the watchers biased, because the show insinuates that the death penalty is wrong because we could execute an innocent person. I am anti-DP, but I agree with lobstrosity that there is a liberal bias in the media

(Ahem back on topic)
You know Lobstocity, It's funny listening to you on these threads. Not because you employ a sense of humor, but because you go off on rants, which are more often than not, figments of your imagination or ports of the goddamn right wing media. I mean honestly, the way you talk makes it sound like the Bolshivek Party is brodcasting subliminal messages in everything we read, see or hear. Also, your media bias ideas are the exact opposite of the way they are. Let's take a look at right wing bias and media deceptions, shall we?
How about FOX? The largest right wing media institution that ever existed. Every show, every news program has such an enormous bias it makes me want to puke. Now it's not the bias that bugs me, per se, but its how they portray it. "Fair and Balanced" is their main motto, when in fact according to a study conducted by an objective source (which wouldn't be that difficult anyway, just watch FOX and see for yourself, kids) found about a 14 to 1 ratio of conservative guests to liberal guests. Furthermore, the acute observer will notice that while the chosen conservative voices are always prestigious or well known and respected (by conservatives) wheras the liberal guest is usually an actor, or a small, unknown political officeholder that you've never heard of and probably never will again. Also, might I add, FOX isn't exactly a tin-can station, It's an enormous network, watched by 3/4ths of Americans and 2/3ds of the world. it also controlls countless newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and telivision stations. You can't escape the damn thing!
Oh, and don't get me started on the hosts of their shows. Every last one bigotory and intolerant of other's views. Bill O' Riley called the son of a 9/11 firefighter WHO DIED unpatriotic because he didn't fully support president Bush and was against going into Iraq because there was a lack of a connections between Bin Laden and Saddam. Rush Limbaugh has accused all woman's rights activists of being lesbiens, and has almost overtly advocated rape. "But what about (that ASSHOLE) Shean Hannity's "liberal" co-host, Alan Colmes?" you may say. "Dosent that balance it out?" you may say. And to that sir, I say you are a moron. Have you EVER heard Colmes have a heated debate with (hell, any debate) or oppose Hannity on any issue? I mean, hell, Colmes praised the president for "Doing a great job" even when every other liberal in America disagreed with him! He even said "I'm very moderate." on at least two occasions! This guy isn't a liberal at all! He's a moderate conservative who sucks at lying, but hell, 51% of the American public obviously buys it!
"Fair and Balanced" MY ****ING ASS!
(I shall rant more about the right wing media later, when I am not so tired.)
