well I got it, the reason there can't be destiny in jiub's sense of the word. All your choices can't be already made, as your choices are effect by random events and the choices of others. And even if everyone's choices were already made, you can't know everone's choices and you can't know your own until you can't know others as they influence you. Its called the invisible hand, and it is the reason things happen.

My view, there is no destiny only choice.

Yup, I'm gonna have to agree with Brian and Eli and Gamerman here. It's choices, not destiny.

Yeah, part of me would like to believe in destiny, but most of me (the logic/thinking part) says no.

well what if it is both? like the choices you make in your "web of life" go on different paths but in the end they all come together again in one ending. that is what I believe. you can make choices that will lead you down different paths but they will meet up in the end no matter what.

What if you make a choice that leads you to like a deserted island where it's impossible to get back and you die there? Does that mean if you hadn't made that choice that made you end up there, that you would have gotten there eventually anyway? Even if it was like a really remote island that nobody even knew about?

well if that was your destiny than any path you chose would've lead you there anyway but you might have had a harder or easier time getting to that point.

But what if it was a really hard place to find, and you had a map there and you had to leave right away or the map would catch on fire or something? If you chose not to go there right away and the map burned up then how would you end up there ever?

if it was your destiny I believe you would find another way. like you would be kidnapped and left there by pirates or something, but no matter what path you choose you would end up there.

What are the odds? What are the odds that you would have more than one chance at ending up at the same remote island? I would say there is such a small chance, that it's nearly impossible. If you think of all the different choices that could even lead you to not get caught by pirates or whatever, there's just no way. And that's why I don't believe in destiny. There's just too many choices. And of course all choices are determined my random variables and of course other people's choices.

yes that's where it gets hard also, when other people's choices come into the picture and effect your choices also. is there another path for that too?

I have not the time or patience to read through this much so for the record I will say this...
I think you have feel will causing free choice...But I feel that a path has allso been set when you shall die when you will loose your teeth and whatnot but you have the freedom of which path to follow as in the good one or the bad one or the one inbetween does anyone understand that?

well if that was your destiny than any path you chose would've lead you there anyway but you might have had a harder or easier time getting to that point. One problem I have with this theory, is if your future is predetermined (which is impossible) then what if you learn what your destiny is and kill yourself thus preventing your so called destiny from happening, im just saying it doesnt go along with physics too well, and I believe that god gave us free choice, I dont believe in demons I believe that humans are the only good and only evil in this world its all about choice, you guide yourself along the path.

If that happened I think it would depend on how you learned your destiny, because then maybe your destiny was to learn about your destiny that actually wasn't your destiny and kill yourself to prevent it but really the killing yourself was your destiny. Yeah, like you said destiny and physics don't mix, so I'm still gonna say it's choice over destiny.

yes that's where it gets hard also, when other people's choices come into the picture and effect your choices also. is there another path for that too? Well, according to the theory that I brought up. yes. The web of life I used to describe it takes everyone's actions into consideration. The web is everyone's choices, not just one person's. So the same web that the cavemen lived in is the same one we live in. The choices they made (according to this theory) affect us all in some way - down the web of life. I actually got an idea for a story on this whole "destiny" thing: A guy who learns his destiny to die on the same remote island, and tries to go back in time to change his destiny to something else. In the end, he always ends up on the island with the ability to try again. In the very end - he dies of old age.
