Hey I know that in government we have been talking a lot about this at my school and we even had a day where gay and lesbians took a stand and wore buttons for gay/lesbian rights. that day there was lot of controversy on different peoples views. I am for gay marriage and I think that like other topics this is a really touchy issue people get carried away with I just wanna be able to get different people's views on this. so please reply no matter what your view is. I am for gay marriage. and yes I am a liberal too.

I am a conservative and yet I agree that there should be gay/lesbian marriage. They just shouldn't get any marriage benefits, except child custody rights and stuff

well why shouldn't htey get the benefits? they are still 2 people in love. and i'm glad you agree that they should get child custody cuz it would be so unfair to the kid or kids.

I'm going to live in the woods of Alaska and hunt polar bears
Or if I did get married, I still wouldn't think it was fair for the taxes others pay to be helping me

whats so different about gay marriage and straight marrage that they woudln't be entitled to benifits. I think gays and lesbians should be entitled to all the same rights that a straight person is. I dont care if its marriage, or something that entitles teh same rights as marriage, but you can't entile rights between man and a woman to be different than rights between man and a man, or woman and a woman different, esspecially not if they are based on a religious view.
A. An incompleat study being done at Amstelveen College in netherlands indicates that there probably is a gentic factor in whether someone is gay or straight, though we will have to wait for teh studie to finish for confrimation on that fact. and... B. To declair "holy sanctity of marriage" would be to form marriage as a religious act, and to give benifits to a religious act is unconstitutional. thus you can't delclair it as a relgious act. C. If you take the right away from gays, what are you going to go after next, no rights for non christians, no rights for people who's polical views differ, no rights for those who have ever disagreed with a view put by the conservative party? You start to make rights exclusive to some, and then some more, and then we end up spirling our country towards facism...
Note: not talking about montary ones, im talking about rights such as those used in situations like terry shivo, and the signing of wills, and hospital visitation rights

I don't know wh you're talking to Gamerman, but I agree with you. All couples whether they are man and a woman, man and a man, or woman and woman, should all get the same benefits.
ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!
Except of course child custody and things that don't have to be paid for.

i agree with Lobstrosity. why should people for being married? they don't need my money any more than I do. also, I believe that a person's sexual preference should have nothing to do with their rights
