you do well at RPG's by following the norm, you do well at FPS by breaking the norm Ugh, you keep using that same argument! We'll keep using the same response: RPGs are only fun if you don't follow the norm. An intelligent fighter, or a muscle-bound mage are some of the most fun characters to play. ::::::::::::::::::::::: If anyone is curious as to why I modified this post, I was fixing kiddo's quote UBBC. ~Jiub

if everyone split off the norm, you get problems within the game, plus if the only way to have fun in teh game is to collapse any chance of having a character that can compeat with anyone else's character, then you, yet again, have problems.

RPGs are not about fighting and getting stronger!! New age RPGs from action companies try to make that seem apparent. Look at D2, that is not a RPG, it is a hack'n'slah'n'pie'n kinda thing. RPGs are about making an interesting character and making the choices based on this character. PvP is the least important part of any true RPG. Because, well, you know, they are about ROLE PLAYING! Guh.

well then, shouldn't RPG's reward you for playing a role, rather than repeating an action?

That's what I'm saying when I mention that a true RPG isnt a game with stats! A true RPG puts you in a setting, then you role play that setting. That is one of the reasons I like forum RP'ing, you don't need stats to have fun. Granted, it does make fighting hard sometimes, but then again, sometimes it doesnt matter, losing a fight can really define a character. I wish that there was a game that rewarded you for playing a role, or even changing your role realisticly, instead of simply for killing monsters or completing quests.

yeah, but a game with stats does make itmore interesting, although sometimes unrealistic, lol
