Oh also ide like to point out that JavaScript and Java are completely different languages, Java is much more complex and powerful, where as JS is webbased, and technicaly isnt a programming language (like HTML) its a markup language (but whatever . (just saying for people who may be confused

(just saying for people who may be confused that now includes me... What we are going to learn in school is Java, its nowhere near as simple as JS. Java is what build runescape and was developed by Sun Microsystems, Both J and JS are free, its just that J is incredibly complex, its like C++ only it sucks and is getting old. (which is why im somewhat inclined not to take the next programming class)

ohhh, that makes more sense. so, java is what online games and whatnot are made of? Well so far only Runescape to my knowledge but java plays off of explorer, which java can do assuming you have java, so its alot like flash.

Oh believe me, its useful but Java is a very difficult language to learn, ide recommend trying out simpler languages before you start that class as it will help alot. I recommend Blitz3d or Python... Blitz is easier to learn, has more documentation and you can make games with it (not to mention there are alot of tutorials on this site however python forces good coding habits (such as code indentation) but python doesnt have a good command refrence or anything so I suggest you check out the Blitz3d demo version which you can get here www.blitzbasic.com/Products/_index_.php (note that Blitz3d can make console, 2d and 3d games)... then I suggest you check out some tutorials, I suggest following this list ragnarokcom.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=blitztutorials&action=display&thread=1112147480 and if you ever dont fully understand something feel free to ask in the blitz boards ... that is of course if you do decide to start programming now... EDIT: woops it seems that that tutorials page links dont work... well heres the first one ragnarokcom.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=blitztutorials&action=display&thread=1110578088 then ide just follow the ones that that one page says...

[glow=red,2,300]schweet, I just need to convince my dad to let me download it now.[/glow] Untill then you can look through that first tutorial and sortof get the hang of it in your head... in fact upon re-reading it myself I see that I was a bit sketchy in some areas... well I never really explained if statments... but blitz is really nice in that it comes with an integrated command refrence with examples. BTW Awsome use of that grunge background.
