The space shuttle discovery was supposed to land early this morning, after it's trip into space, where an unprecedented backflip manuever was executed, to examine the belly of the craft. The was damage to the shuttle, and the damage was repaired. Additional repairs were made to the ISS (International Space Station). Upon leaving the ISS, the shuttle was about to land, although the sky was much too cloudy with zero visibility. Another landing will be attempted tomorrow in Florida, and if that also fails, California will be the shuttle's next target.

*sigh* to the best of my knowledge, the current events board is a place to discuss current events. so, this being a current event, people could talk about it

Hopefully nothing will go wrong, but the space shuttle needs to die, it old and its controlled fall landing system is old, nasa is developing that new craft which will take off and land like a jet, only it will have a couple ram jets allowing it to get into space, this will be far more effective.

we havn't had much luck with space shuttles really since the first one went to the moon and after that it seems like all of them have had something go wrong with them

There are plenty of successful shuttle missions you just never hear about them. That one that exploded recently had a lot of successful missions, it was the oldest one (I don't remember how many I think it made 35 or so successful round trips to space).

if it was so old why did they use it again? wouldn't it be a very dangerous thing to actually use a shuttle more than once?

no, the entire point of their design is to be used multiple times
