The answer to this "could god make a bolder so big that he could not pick it up?" is no, because the bolder has to follow the laws of physics, it can only get so big before it collapses. Anyways I do believe there is a god, I have really in depth views on this but I dont have time to explane them

Ah, but could God not make the boulder so that it will not collapse no matter how big it is?

Well that would be cheating.
But if he only would use the power to make things more massive, and lifting then my statement is true. And this is assuming you believe god is all powerful, you never know he/she may have to comply with the laws of physics.

Law of conservation of matter is part of physics. Matter is never created nor destoyed. The same with energy. *Ahem* If I may read a passage.
"In the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth."
I don't know about the heavens, but the earth is made up of matter, which according to the laws of physics is never created, nor destroyed. Therefore, if you believe in god, you should believe he does not need to comply with the laws of physics. Need more proof?
"'Let there be light.' And it was so."
Light is a form of kinetic energy, and so if God created light, he created energy, which is against the law of conservation of energy.

Light is a form of kinetic energy, and so if God created light, he created energy, which is against the law of conservation of energy. And my comeback Angels and Demons, perfect explanation in there, who says god created the matter, maybe he created the energy particles which collided thus causing the big bang (this theory is widely accepted by scientists) And keep in mind that there is nothing that is 100 percent true, who says the Law of conservation of Matter or Law of conservation of Energy is true, we all had to get here some how, now even if its by gods hand it contridicts those theories, even if he can alter the laws of physics it still means those are false and that they should be changed to Law of conservation of ... with compliance to the laws of physics or Law of conservation of ... with the exception to god. Even scientists are starting to believe that things such as anti matter, or black holes are capable of destroying energy and matter. And to add on to that your quotes are meaningless, the bible was written by a man, and later edited by Roman Emporer Constantine, who says thats how it happened? There is always another explanation (allthough not always right But this is all theory and speculation crap and throwing God into the mix doesnt help at all, ill continue to believe what I believe, and that God did create the big bang which eventually lead to life here (please note that I dont agree with all that I said, I agree with you except I proposed possible explanations (i know it seemed like I believed what I was saying, but what I meant to say is "here is a possible explanation), it would be foolish to say that either side is correct, its all speculation and untill I die or someone finds proof of how life started im not going to side either way.

[glow=red,2,300]IMO God created the laws of conservation of matter and energy, and therefore is above them. I dont believe there is anything that God cannot do, except sin. meh, that is just my opinion.[/glow]

All im going to say is this, I wont believe anything that is said here because there is no evidence of it, of course I believe there is a god, but only because there is no other possible explanation that explanes how to universe came to be, im not going to argue over what he can and cant do, its possible he cant do everything, and its possible that he is all powerful. So when I die and god does exist it is then that I will know. And this thread is very pointless as everyone has a different view of god, and some may be offended by it so lets just stop this discussion

I will not be offended by anything said here, and really I'd rather continue this discussion because I'm not sure if I believe in God really. Like, I want to believe in him, but all of my logic opposes the idea.

Bah, the only way to believe in God is to abandon all logic. Then again, that's the church's explanation for a lot...
Host: "Welcome to today's edition of Religion vs. Science! And with us today is... Revrend Guy, and Dr. Phelpses. The question for today is: How does the human body produce energy. Religion? I'll let you go first."
Religion: "Because God said it should."
Host: "Ooo-kay... science?"
Science: "Well, in laymans terms - glucose is broken down into two parts and converted to pyruvic acid. The acid joins with a coenzyme and goes through the oxidative process called the Kreb's cycle. Next, it goes through the electron transport process where the energy is mass-produced."
Host: "Well... I didn't understand a word you just said. Religion wins this round-"
Religion: "He's a witch! Burn him!!!"
And there you go. Science get's burned by religion on the stake because it feels bad. So... abandon logic or try to cheat yourself into an explanation that sorta works.

Bah, the only way to believe in God is to abandon all logic. Then again, that's the church's explanation for a lot... I very much disagree, sure the term faith means to believe in which you do not understand, so I would say I dont have much faith but I believe in god because so far science is only prooving the existance of god. "Science and Religion are not at ends, they are one in the same, science is merely too young to understand." They both seek the same thing, and science isnt at the point where it can explane where we came from, but most scientists view on how the universe is God... but that can change and untill I see extremely good evidence that god doesnt exist I will continue to do so as it is the only logical explanation scientists have so far, sure you get some crazy ones who say the energy particles which collided and started the big bang have always been, but how does that make sense? Nothing could have always been, its far more logical to believe God created time itself, but im always open to another explanation from science .

and science isnt at the point where it can explane where we came from. . . sure you get some crazy ones who say the energy particles which collided and started the big bang have always been, but how does that make sense? Nothing could have always been. Science can totally explain where we came from. Chemicals, w00t! And why can't anything always have been? You're thinking on a limited timeline, why not think on an unlimited timeline?

Heh im not talking about that, im talking about the origin of the universe, sorry I misworded it. (and im not saying science cant proove how the universe started, all im saying is that its not at that point yet)
And many scientists will agree with me, how could something have always been? Everything started at one point, however some will not, there is no way to proove anything, nothing is 100 percent and either of us could be correct, im just choosing the God route because it seems very plausible and it can help me to lead a good life, so its pointless to argue this.
Of course if science did provide a theory on how the universe was created that was plausible I would change my views, always keep an open mind.

See here's what I don't get. You keep saying "how could something have always been?" I think it makes more sense to believe things have existed forever than to believe there was a time when nothing existed. Basically I'm asking: How could something not have been?

Exactly, how can you make something from nothing, it doesnt make sense to say something always existed, and it doesnt make sense to say there is a point when nothing existed.
This is why this argument is pointless, and many people (including scientists) choose to believe in divine intervention. "I think it makes more sense to believe things have existed forever than to believe there was a time when nothing existed." Well thats your own opinion, many people would call you crazy, and many would not. Its impossible to proove anything, so lets just wait untill we are dead, if there is a God then it would support my argument, but if we just rot in the ground I would say you are correct (perhaps we can make a wager eh? Even though im not saying your wrong, all im saying is that we need to keep an open mind and that you shouldnt assume anything untill science progresses further. I just choose to believe in God because science has done nothing but proove the existance of god (well that and they havent given any other proper explanation)) and I for one hope there is a god, but I dont think ide mind it much if there wasnt, because ide be dead and incapable of thought.
And of course there was a point when there was no matter (maybe), scientists will say before the big bang, before that they believe some form of energy existed that collided and formed the big bang, it made something from nothing and many believe that that is god (b/c of course they ask where this energy came from), but its just their opinion (and I will side with that argument somewhat, its just that they have no proper evidence, maybe in 50 years we will know)
This is a pointless argument, you believe what you want to believe untill science says otherwise and even then science is never 100 percent right. There is an answer, but it hasnt been prooven yet and untill it is everything said in this thread will be speculation which is pointless.
