Well I cant give a lot of info on VGA, but in many places like Korea it is considered an actual disease.
This not only goes for VGA but RPA as well (role playing addiction, such as D&D)
In many cases the character becomes the players real life. Many people have died from it too as a Korean man played Everquest for 3 days straight drinking only caffeine then he had a heart attack.
More and more people are playing video games and role playing games, it is an increasing threat.
Is this something we should be worried about?

Well I'm not worried, since I don't know anyone who plays videogames that much.

Only the people who take it to far get it and it's their own fault. It's not a real desise, just an extreme liking of it

Well its a disease in that people become addicted to it and are incapable of removing themselves from it... allthough it may not be a physical illness it could be considered mental. I agree though, theres not much we can do about it and its the persons fault. On a side note I recently came across this video video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4698898666405139932 which raises another good point about sociality over the net... and is pretty funny too...

ok yes vidoe games are adicting but its not as if you can die from then or get HIV by shareing discs there not a drug I have been playing games my who life and I may be out of shape but thats not be cause of video games. they are good for kids you can learn from them and they help reaction time and hand eye cordanation and if you play the right ones they even help you spell and expand your imagenation

Actually, lets say you play a game so often that you never even bother to sleep and stay there 24/7, and you only survive off of fast food and pop, I'm pretty sure you're gonna die fairly soon. But I don't believe it really gets that addicting, and if it were to happen, its most likely your problem, not the video game.

This may be a bit hypocritical of me, but I actually do believe videogames are fairly bad for you, and if I have children, I won't let them play videogames too much. And definitely not violent ones until I know they are old enough.
