Puppet characters are free for all players to use. Though, they must follow strict guidelines to do so. This list may change as the art of puppeteering is perfected, so check back every once in a while. Hereafter, the first poster of a puppet will be referred to as the "Creator", and the users "Puppeteers". If you have any questions, post them here and I will try to answer them. This thread is to post and discuss puppets, nothing else. Remember that these characters are meant to be puppet mastered. On to the guidelines!
Rough Guidelines:
Creation:
- First and foremost, the creators of the puppets must develop a personality, background, appearance, and purpose for the puppet.
> Personality is very important, no matter what, a puppet's personality will not change. Even if they have a split personality.
> Background needs to stay consistant all the time. This should be quite detailed.
> Appearance is big in puppets, because each puppeteer must keep it the same throughout a role play.
> Purpose is optional, though most characters will have a set purpose in mind, even if they don't say, or even know it.
- Next, the creator should say what, if any, variables the puppet may have.
> Weapons are a good variable. Does the person use only swords? Can they wield daggers? What do they have problems with?
> If the puppet needs to have something happen to it, this event should be recorded.
- Post this information in some kind of format in this thread.
ex:
Role Play: Muffinland
Puppet name: Blueberry
Appearance: Round and blue-ish purple.
Personality: Chronicly depressed and tasty.
So on and so forth. Creators should use more detail than this in reality, though.
Puppeteering:
- Always follow the guidelines set by the creator. Never do something out of character with them.
- Don't change what someone else has done, just to let something you wanted to do happen. This is for everyone.
- If ever there is a dispute on what event the puppet should take, refer to the creator.
Like I said, these are likely to change once this becomes more commonplace. I wouldn't recommend making more than one active puppet at a time, as this would get confusing after a while.
