Well so far it has been illegal for people to make homebrew console games (Make their own for a console such as the playstation). But now Microsoft is allowing people who pay 100 dollars a year able to program on the Xbox 360. Nintento is also going to be doing something similar (I think) but the Xbox is the easiest to program for as its most like a PC (sadly the playstation is uneccisariley complicated and will not likely follow this route)... www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/aug06/08-13XNAGameStudioPR.mspxIn my opinion 100 dollars a year for access to all the SDKs needed for making games on the 360 is well worth it. (not that I would get it though Ill stick with programming on the PC).
