I'll try to explain, but I know Gamerman would do better.
You know how if you have no money, $20 would be a lot. But if you had $1,000,000 , $20 wouldn't seem like so much anymore.
So a poor person who has to pay a percent of their money, even if it's the same percent as a rich person, that percent seems like much more money to them, and it is. They need that money (hopefully not for drugs, but what are you gonna do?).
And a rich person who has to pay a lot more money than the poor person, even though it's the same percent as the poor person, wouldn't mind as much because they already have a lot more money. They can afford to give more (that is, a slightly higher percent) of their money to the government.

well, I can see that if it's only a small difference, because let's say someone with $100 has to pay $20 in taxes (i know, unrealistic) someone with $10,000,000 would have to pay $2,000,000, and that would still be a lot of money to them

It's not that simple. Income tax! Think income tax!
Let's say someone with $200 who earns $100 has to pay $20 in taxes.
Someone with $5,000,000,000 who earns $1,000,000 would have to pay $200,000. That's not so much.

I agree its not much, not much for the individual (be he rich or not) but when you add up all the extra you got from the rich who were taxed more its a lot for the government, so I am officialy changing my view, more for the rich, less for the poor. because all that money added up is alot and can be used for good.
Like if everone in america gave you a buck, it wouldnt cost them alot, but you would become rich, kindof like the lottery.

hmm, lobstrosity, your explanation actually makes a lot of sense, I hadnt been thinking of the income relative to the money they already have...hmm...

see it would help, but if the government was run by stupid texas republicans all that money would be going to killing people in another country so that wouldn't help so much but in the long run it would be better.

In your opinion it wouldn't help much, but your opinion is not necessarily the right one, LIBERAL.

Right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But not one single person alone has the right to claim that their own opinion is the right opinion.

With taxes if I and everyone else just puts in an extra dollar thats several more million dollars for the government, so if we have to pay a bit more im fine with it. (then again I dont have to pay taxes so meh )

If you have a job, you gotta pay income taxes, but if you're still young and the job is low paying, they just take it out of your paycheck automatically.
