i believe in a flat tax rate.
a rich person shouldn't have to pay a higher percentage of their income just because they have more money.

but if you make a flat percentage, then poor pepole spend over half of their disposible income to spend, on tax.
Meanwhile, the rich pay practically nothing, as all of their taxes comes out of money they wern't spending anyways. (rich people save more than they consume)

Gamerman makes a very excellent point. Hmmm. . . I wish to change my vote to higher taxes for rich. . . but I still want to remove money from the welfare system then if we do that! And also I'm not gonna like it, I'm just gonna agree with it. . .
You know, I think I'm the only person here that has actually changed my mind about any of the debates. Everyone else is really stubborn. . .

Everyone else is really stubborn. . . Perhaps not stubborn, but rather unswayed by any opposing arguments. I get all the facts on something or think it through for a while before making my desision, this is why I am rarely swayed as ive read just about all oposing arguments before and have decided upon those. But I am going to have to say flat tax rates, but more money into helping the poor like job programs, welfare (for 6 months only), food shelters etc. etc. we dont get much more money by raising taxes for the rich anyways. (taxes arent a huge part of our governments wealth, ill try to find the statistics) However this is one where I am on the line, I can see both arguments so im not really for either one anyways.

okay the flat tax rate is where everyone pays the same? okay well I like that idea cuz no matter if you are rich or poor you still pay a lot personally and yet I also like the idea of the robin hood thing where rich give to the poor but if the rich pay more then they will become middle class and there won't be any rich people anymore so what do we do then?

Yes that is true. That would not be good.
I think it should be flat taxes for everyone except the very exceedingly wealthy who can afford to pay more without become noticeably less rich. They should pay a higher percent than everyone else, but not too much higher.

i agree but I still don't want the wealthy becoming middle class and then have no help at all from them. I think flat tax would work but somone like bill gates could pay maybe a couple of percent more than the rest of the wealthy

umm we've had inclining tax rates for decades, and it has not lowerd the number of upperclass people... someone paying a higher portion of their larger income will still have more money than someone paying a lower portion of their smaller income

Yeah I know, I just don't want the incline to be too steep just above the middle class.

yeah I mean the idea of havng bill gates become middle class is a little farfetched I still think that we should just have a flat tax rate and tax more for the rich

we should just have a flat tax rate and tax more for the rich firstly, I disagree, secondly, if you tax the rich more, it's no longer a flat rate
