Should it be legal, what laws should surround it if it is legal, and how bad should the punishments be for breaking it be?

ESPN, entertainment strategy published newsletter, its the name I used to lable my debates at heavengames and gametalk, so now I am continuing to use it, NE ways the debate is about PORNOGRAPHY, not ESPN... stay on topic.

if porn should be legal or not, what rules should surround it, et cetera. NE ways I think that Porn should be legal, with no age limit. In fact, after certain hours, allow graphic adds in public, allow adds in newspaper, if you dont add taboo to the industry artifically, then the taboo will go down and it will just be an adult aimed industry like alchohol and gambling. if a parent doesn't want their kids looking at it, it should be the parents job to enforce it.

I think it should be legal, but I still think we should try to avoid kids from seeing it, if a TV show is going to show adds it shouldnt be a public channel and it should be on an adult oriented network (which means it cant appear on spongbob or whatever the heck it is children watch these days)

but I dont see whats so wrong with it being in public... where ya you prolly dont want nudest walking around the street, a kid seeing a picture of a naked person isn't going to kill him, or harm him in any way... so why protect him from something as harmless as nudity

ok it seems as though I'm alone in thinking this way, but I'm not especially for pornography. I mean already it is easy enough to get at and I understand that some people don't believe it to be bad or offensive. It, at least for me, would be just rude and uncomfortable to see pron. used in advertising or anything like that. I understand that people should be able to see what they want and I agree with that, just not in public. So really im just saying that pornography should be leagal, but with an age limit and NOT used in advertising.

I think that porn needs to be kept where the general public dont have to see it. If you want to watch it I think that that is your choice, but it should not be on like advertizement for cereal. I would feel a little uncomfortable just seeing porn pop up on the TV. So I think that it should be accesable, but only to people who WANT to see it.

but porn doesn't get put up in normal ads, even when it is legal, it gets put up as LATE night flyers on the street, and in a rare nude advertizement in 1 newspaper. Besides, its up to a TV station what they put up as adds, shouldn't those that want to show porn be allowed and those that dont, not. Also, as long as reputation matters, stations arn't going to allow porn advertizement if they are in favor of decency, the government doesn't need to tell all stations to stop it, as without, it contains itsself to very few stations, which the public that doesn't want to see it wont see it anyways.
what you seem to think is that legalizing porn will cause it to spread all around so that its unavoidable to see it, but japan has no porn laws, and porn remains secluded away from main public eyes, yet easily accessable to the eyes of those looking for it.

The station or company has the right to advertise porn, just not publicaly, and like you said their reputaion is at stake so no company like children shows will advertise that sort of thing.

i agree with songstress because no kid should see that kind of stuff cuz they wouldn't even understand it until a certain age anyway but still some people think it's rude and ishy and it shouldn't be put on tv. especially kid shows and yet I think it should be allowed to people who want to see it.

again with the assuming that allowing poeple to put it up means that everyone will. Kids shows arn't going to have it, same with kids channels, they would loose more bussiness then they would gain. and if they don't understand the porn, then whats the harm in them seeing it? and its not like you are showing porn other than in places specially designated to porn, adds are pure just nude or semi-nude picts and whats the harm of those, they still are limited down to a level where adults can control children viewership if they want, and it allows the adult industry more freedom. as far as i'm concerned, its huge gain for those seeking it, and no loss for those who arn't.

well, im not sure if I entirely agree with what gamerman is saying, but it certainly makes sense. I mean, just because it's legal to buy a gun and conceal it on your person doesnt mean that everyone does. I think the same idea applies here
