Microsoft made the claim earlier, that they were going to sell 1 Billion X-Box 360s. This claim is seamingly rediculious, as US/Japanese/SouthKorean/European populations put together are about 800 million, and that would be assuming one per citizen and compleat market control, which the X-Box 360 obviously wont have given the compitition of the PS3 and N: Revolution, and that would leave them, still short of the target.
So how, might you ask, would Microsoft match this ourragious claim? The secret is not within their engeneering department, but their marketing department. The way they are undoubtedly going to try to meet these claims is through sales in china and india, combined populations of 2.5 Billion. But wont they have to deal with compitition there also, you might ask? No. Due to poplitical reasons, China highly restricts the import of the japanese consols, while loosely restricting american ones. THus X-Boxx will have free rein in China, and in india, US has forced many free trade agreements (often against the will of india) into india to make it so the X-Box will have sizable advantages in India as well.
So what does this mean? Well it means that Microsoft's concol may be the poorest designed, as the quality wont matter too much for their target audience. This will also mean greater online presance durring night games. But most of all, this means that Microsoft may take a dominant lead over Sony and Nintendo in the new Generation 110 (6) concols [for those of you that dont know, atari is gen 1, nes is 2, snes is 3, n64 is 4, cube is 5, (just match concols with their compeititors)]
