Anybody have Rome: Total War? I've so far only played the demo, which is more than I need to motivate me to get this game. I suggest everyone shud try the demo, you'll be wanting this game as badly as I do. In the demo you play as Hannibal and the Carthiginians at the Battle of Trebia. It's not too hard to beat, basically because they got the basic strategy set up for you. All you need to do is use the Elephant units effectively and use ur calvary to take out the opposing general, and morale drops. Then it's simply breaking the enemy will one by one into retreat. You can find the demo at www.totalwar.com/community/download.htm good luck Anyways, anybody have this game? If you don tell me about it plz

I got the game today! Hooray. I'm playing as the "House of Julii" faction. I think i'm doing decent so far, but my faction is really tight on money. I'm not sure exactly why this is, but I think it might have something to do with having the largest army. The upkeep is alot. A first time mistake I suppose. I really suggest this game to everybody.

lets see, my only mistake on my first time through was not putting enough troops in carthage to keep it under control (although its population was 3x that of the population of rome). ANd I had built up a sizable cash base so I had no need for roman support even (i had Capula, scicilly, Zama (what I call the city under carthage), carthage, and greece, and turkey, early on. Ohh here is a tip for you, make sure you never have 2 family members in one army or city, that shoudl help financially. Read Fargo's massive 52 page strategy guide, that usually helps. Ya anyways buy 245 BC, I had strogner alliances with egypt than rome, and I had started prepariing a massive italian army (with no financial problems). By the way, I was Scipii (though brutii is also kool [damn julii's])

Things to also try. Elephants, Elephants, spartans, Elephants, Flaming pigs used on elephants. Did I already mention elephants?
Just a heads up. DONT TRY HOPLITES VS HOPLITES
