OMFG I PLAYED TEH DEMO!!!!!! ... ...er...ahem... Yeah, it is so friggin cool! I played as the British against the Spanish in New England. Some things I thought were really cool about the game... -The explorer, with his crackshot and sharpshoot abilities is friggin awesome, AND the spanish one can have war dog buddies as well. -The experince system is a cool way of rewarding you for doing things, such as killing foes and building stuff. It lets you order troops and supplies from the mainland, and the stuff you can get is customisable. -Trade routes are way cool, and even cooler when you make yours a train. Great way to get recources and exp. -Soldiers automatically line up, and a whole lotta syncronized musket fire is way cool. -Buildings are to scale, and so are ships. The Man-of-War and Monitor ships are friggin HUGE! -GOOD PARTICLE EFFECTS! YAY! -Naval combat rocks! -Finally, troops can move through forests! -You can recruit native americans to join your cause -Animations are fluid, and graphics are top-notch -After defeating an enemy force or destroying all the enemy buldings in their sight range, your troops give a cheer, wave their muskets, etc. -Group queueing! Make troops in lots of up to five at a time, as opposed to one at a time.
Those are just some of the cool things about it thusfar. I cannot wait until it comes out for mac.

Ive had the game since the 18, and I must say it is quite kool, however I wouldnt say the graphics are top notch, as they quite suck comparative to other games, expecialy with Microsofts DirectX 10 on the way it will be put back pretty far, but strategy games dont need graphics so who gives a ****.
And the game is poorly optimized, even with a really good computer you can find the game lagging up in major battle sequences but other than that...

well do you have all your graphic options on high, because with it all on high is where it looks the best

Yes of course, last time I checked my compy was better than yours (or it might have been Powermad but whatever)
The fact is is that all strategy games have many different things being held in ram, every single unit. They have to use bad graphics because of that, sure they have a bloom filter but thats about it, nothing special in the graphics area. But it doesnt matter, because gameplay PWNS all (which AOE3 does).

well thats impossible, the highest settings are made for a computer not made yet, so unless you have a super computer or a future computer, yours can't be running the highest settings possible.

Well actualy its on the highest settings, its just you can increase those settings if you have a good cpu, but I guess your technicaly right, but it still doesnt change the fact that its graphics are just ok compared to current standards. In reply to Demons post if it did it would come out in 1 to 2 years or so is my guess, as converting OSs takes a long time, however im going to stick with mine and pretty much everyone elses argument that you should just get a PC as they are far superior to macs.

well shadowing beats everything else on the market except doom/quake, the landscapes are better than everything 'cept maybe farcry. the water is better than everything except maybe myst...ya the individual characters look like they belong in AoM, but the world looks better than any FPS (except all put together)

*sigh this is a pointless argument,
1: shadows systems can only be so good, AOE3 has several hundred moving units, it would be illogical for them to implement incredibly good shadows, this also applies to all graphics, sure they look nice for age of empires but thats becuase AOE games have several type sets on the screen at once, this also includes land, sure it looks good because its birds eye view and it has a bloom filter, but walk around on it in a FPS and it would totally suck.
But anyways moving on... Ive decided to use the French, whos everyone else using?

DUTCH!!! I see us 2 are the one's who's economies are set to our specialized villagers (mine are limited and cost coin, or are immobile buildings). of course my civ lacks any sorta offensive push unit, so im going to be relying on either slow crawl using cannons and towers, or mercs
ya of course any far out game is going to look like crap from first person, then again half life 2 looks crappy from birds eye view, there is no game that can have everything look awsomely good, as that would push for extream waste. Basicly things should be judged from the point of view they were meant to be seen from, not the point of view that they might be seen from once, purly to show that they dont look good in that PoV.
