The only people who support those things are the incredibly rich and famous people, those that the public know. They support these things because it's good for their image to do so. All of the fairly rich people who would still be effected by such a tax incline but who aren't well known by the public would certainly be against it. They have nothing to gain and so much to lose.

ohh really, so the owner of ikea is just doing it for publicity ehh? Ohh and Ted Turner and John Kerry must not really be left wingers either, they just want to publicisize, and ohh the millionarie economists, they dont really support it either I guess....
For every high profile millionaire, there is a high profile one that is greedy and doesn't want whats good for the country, so its not just hte publicity factor (note: Bank owners also have nothing to gain from publicity, nor does Turner or Kerry [with this spacific type of publicity])...

In light of this new info, I propose a tax increase on John Kerry. The extra income of the tax hike will be given to the poor. It's what Kerry would have wanted...

If Kerry really wants to give back to the economy, then why stop him? Kerry tax hike! Feed the homeless you all care so much about! Flat taxes for the rest of us, ensuring a truly capitalistic economy!!
DOWN WITH COMMUNISM!!!!!!!

we don't need to enforce a tax hike on anyone. If anybody wants to "give back to the economy," they can do so in private donations, or by buying something

ohh yes lets take away 90% of a person in povertie's disposible income, while taking away a mear 20% of a rich person's disposible income.
Because that is what happens when you set a flat tax on income, it creates an inclined tax rate on disposible income, income not used to pay for ESSENTIALS OF LIFE. and where is it inclined on, the POOR!!!! ohh yes lets take away most of the Standard of Living from the already low SoL of the poor, and give the wealthy an even larger SoL than they already are.
At the very least, taxes should be based a flat tax rate on disposible income (income above 7,200 per dependant modified based on inflation), and thats at the very least..

sounds good to me. I guess. It's their own fault for being in poverty, they don't need my money.

basicly, money above living wages, so disposible income (money spent on entertainment or whatever else)
