Getting shot and having a stolen car aren't problems to overlook, because there is still a police force. But yeah, if you can't afford medical bills, too bad, luck of the draw.

Because protecting people's rights is more important than making sure they all have nice jobs

what are the 3 most important rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness. So do the poor people not have the right to pursue happyness? YOu dont have the ability to pursue happyness at $5.15 an hour, esspecially if you have a family, but I guess only those who are lucky are entitled to that right...

note that they were careful when writing that. YOU ARE GUARANTEED life YOU ARE GUARANTEED liberty YOU ARE GUARANTEED
THE PURSUIT
of happiness.
nothing said about being happy, just the oppurtunity to be happy
i agree with some of what you're saying, but just not how you word it

so how exactly is someone making 5.15 an hour raising a family entitled to pursuie happyness, they dont have the money unless they work alot of overtime, and if they do that, then they dont have the time to make use, and its not like overtime is always an option either.

so, are you saying that money is absolutely necessary for someone to be happy?

look up the historical context of it if you dont belive that pursuit of happyness and pursuit of money are the same...

it's still not necessary to have money to be happy. the constitution guarantees neither happiness nor money

Right, just because you have the right to persue happiness doesn't mean everyone will achive it. You have the opportunity, and some people just have a head start.

and some people dont have a real opertunity,
plus even if you dont agree with fairness issue, you still haven't talked about the fact that economic studies show that trickle up (consumerism) economics tend to do just as well, yet at a more stable rate, then trickle down economics. and the fact that the world's wealthiest people extreamly often support inclined tax rates... which would harm themselves, and take the tax burden off the middle and lower classes.

Of course rich people would oppose something that would harm themselves, what do you expect?
