Yeah, and you shouldn't be living your life based on greed. How is that a good life? Just because you're making the economy better, does that mean you're truely happy? Ok, heres a scenario, suddenly everyone does what they "love" then the next day no one showed up for their crappy job, businesses fail the economy then crumbles, no medical no nothing, the average American life span goes from 70 something to about 40, disease becomes rampant, farmers decide not to farm and food runs out, people starve and die... then our military shuts down, trade shuts down plunging the rest of the world into a depression. You see, it would be selfish to do what you love, you have to do what is best for the human race, and with capitalism all you have to do is do whatever gets you the most money. About 90 percent of Americans hate their jobs but they are doing their part no matter how bad it is.

Then why have jobs you hate? Why not have jobs you actually like? Then the economy stays good, and people are happy.

There are only so many jobs available.
Plus there are jobs that need to be done, but most people don't want to do. How many people do you think want to be janitors and such?

Maybe in some fairlytale it works that way, but this is the real world, natural selection, you either work hard or live on the streets... its sad but true... we always have crummy jobs that need to be filled, who wants to be a Janitor? No one, but it has to be done. Edit: Lol Lobstrosity , looks like we both used Janitor as an example at the same time.

Furthermore, there are people who would probably love to be astronauts or doctors or vets or firefighters, and I bet a lot of those people would suck at those kinds of jobs.

Just because you're making the economy better, does that mean you're truely happy? so you are basicly saying that alan greenspan lived a sham of a life? Keynes? Smith? Our nation was founded on alot of ideals set by Adam Smith. And them improving the economy made pepole happy. How is making people happy NOT a good life?

This is getting off-topic to the max. This isn't about jobs, really, this is about taking advantage of feelings. My opinion hasn't changed, but I don't want this to become a discussion about how people have to work in jobs they may or may not like to have a good life.

I disagree, we havent gone off topic at all, jobs are a way of life, is making a profit on something like the world trade centers wrong? No as long as someone buys it, these are the fundamentals of our economy stated above.
Either way, some may find it morally wrong but we all gotta make our way in life. Its not hurting anyone so I dont really see whats so bad...

Exactly. All economics aside, what exactly is so bad about profiting off the bad things that happen? As the saying goes: When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.

Although, this whole debate is asking if it's alright to, when life gives other people lemons, take those lemons, make them into lemonade, and sell it back at an inflated price. Using your own lemons isn't really exploitation, not the kind we're debating here in any case.

when life gives other people lemons, take those lemons, make them into lemonade, and sell it back at an inflated price. Isnt Capitalism great? Everyone benefits in that senario, just like someone making money off of something like 9/11, if someone benefits, its everyone that benefits. So my opinion stands.
