that episode with the cerial killer was still there. It actually showed the mutilated woman and all of the blood and...yeah. That is one of the first animes that doesnt seem formulated to me. Perhaps it is only because I havn't seen much of it, but it would annoy the crap out of me if they used the formula: character is strong. Character meets someone stronger. Character does something to get stronger. Character overcomes obstacle. Lather, rinse, and repeat.
That is why I slowly grew to hate DBZ. It is the same thing over and over again with new faces. So, this anime looks promising. It even distorted the image of a character we had grown to love. Oh, yes, this is a very, -very-, promising anime!

I am not an anime fan. I saw an episode of that once though and there was like, this robot, and he had a weird voice and it was raining and some people got shot and the was this guy with an x on his face and he had glasses but they got broken and it was very confusing.

yeah there were alchemists but they were nothing like these why they could make things. like turning coal into gold can't happen or aleast right now. umm you guys should get the japanese version. that would be cool I can't wait for the movie. once it comes out I will put it on my site and you guys can download it because omg this is one of the best series. they better show all the gore when like envy lust and greed come into play. they are the best

Yeah... since the show's (um...) shower... [adult swim] was meant for adults, they left in pretty much everything: swearing, blood, gore. They probly took out sex, if there was any, which is okay with me. I honestly doubt it is much different. And I guess I don't completly agree with the American voices being dumb. In the Animes I have seen in American and in Japanese, I was able to pick out a lot more emotion in the American's voices, and sometimes it felt like it fit the chatacter more. Like... Jet (from Cowboy Bebop) had a high voice in japanese... that does not match him at all.

actually, there really were alchemists like there are in the show. "They believed gold to be the perfect metal and that baser metals were more imperfect than gold. Thus, they sought to fabricate or discover a substance, the so-called philosopher's stone, so much more perfect than gold that it could be used to bring the baser metals up to the perfection of gold." "Most famous of all was the 16th-century Swiss alchemist Philippus Paracelsus. Paracelsus held that the elements of compound bodies were salt, sulfur, and mercury, representing, respectively, earth, air, and water; fire he regarded as imponderable, or nonmaterial. He believed, however, in the existence of one undiscovered element common to all, of which the four elements of the ancients were merely derivative forms. This prime element of creation Paracelsus termed alkahest, and he maintained that if it were found, it would prove to be the philosopher's stone, the universal medicine, and the irresistible solvent." - www.thehistorychannel.com/perl/print_book.pl?ID=200596they couldn't do all of the stuff they do in the show though (obviously)
