about the character thing: this is no Final Fantasy. There are waaaaay more than FFXI's measly 24 servers, WoW has too many servers to count. Also, there is no extra charge for more than one character. You are allowed a maximum of 50 characters with no more than 8 characters allowed on a single server. It's great and IMO much better than FFXI. You should definately check it out. Also, depending on how large a chunk of time you buy, the price can be as low as $13 per month (buying 6 months of gameplay at a time). I'm not sure how the prices increase, so I just buy 6 months at a time for the lowest price.

more stuff I forgot:
WoW is made so that even a casual gamer can reach the level cap (60) given enough time. This is different from FFXI, where only the most hardcore gamers will ever get close to the cap (75). I have played on and off for maybe 2 weeks and I am already level 18. Believe it or not, this is not bad at all as it will still take much time to get the cap. You will never see some newb, or idiot reach the level cap, as it still takes brains to play.
Also, it is possible to solo ALL the way to level 60 on your own. For those of you who don't care about taking a bit longer to reach the cap, you never really have to rely on a group to level up. The only times you will need a group are when you need to do a very hard quest or such, and even then there are usuallym ore than enough people willing to do it. Of course the priest class and perhaps the mage class will still want to rely on parties for more exp (experience) but it is still not necessary. In FFXI it gets literally IMPOSSIBLE to level up beyond level 15 by yourself, and even that takes a while.
Last thing this game does better than FFXI: NO EXP LOSS WHEN YOU DIE!
This is great because in FFXI there was such an incredible loss of exp when you die even once, it's literally hours (if not days) before you get back to where you were. This leads to high-stress parties in which people explode on one another if they die. In WoW, when you die you have a few options upon death:
1: geat a freindly guy to resurrect you 2: become a ghost in the nearest graveyard and travel back to your body to come back to life 3: become a ghost in the nearest graveyard and be revived on the spot in exchange for lowering the durability of your equipment (this is repairable at all weapon and armor shops for a rather small fee)
so many reasons to join lol

I'd rather not play a game that costs money, though at 13 dollars for 6 months, that really isnt all that bad. I have half-life 2, that is a pretty good multiplayer game. If anything it is awesome chucking toilets at each other. I'd be down with pretty much anything. As long as I only became a casual member. I always put school first, and even then I actually have begun to get a social life. So... I'm down with the games that you're down with.
