Demon got to Nibelheim before he quit. Apparently he had a hard time beating the easiest boss in the game.

No no no, Demon was at Cozmo Canyon, he couldn't beat the boss there, and claimed he couldn't get out to go back and level up. I'm positive he could have leveled up, but he didn't. Eventually though he beat it.

Yeah, and also I believe materia keeper is one of the toughest bosses in the game. At the level you are when you get there, he's pretty hard.
The boss in cosmo canyon is what I meant. He's the easiest because you just have to throw a phoenix down at him.

[glow=red,2,300]uhh...well yah I dont really like turn based combat either...it does get extremely repetitive...i also dont really like the whole random encounter thing...like every 2 steps BOOM! random battle...gets somewhat repetitive...[/glow]

Now I've always said that FFVII is the best FF, and possibly best game ever. But perhaps I was too quick to judge? The game rocks, but I'm debating whether FFIX is better than it. In fact the only reason I don't bring up FFIX is that when I beat it, I was playing in a more or less trance like state which means I don't remember much of it at all. I'm gonna play it again and see if it's better. Personally I think it's a great game and it's got a happier story and lighter mood. And a happy ending, unlike in FFVII which is very dark and has an inconclusive ending. I think FFVII is still the best, but I may have been too quick to judge FFIX.

I havent played alot of FFs, I really liked 7 for the PC and sadly the game broke before I had a chance to get to the end (i was just going into that crater thing ) And I havent played 9 etc. etc. but I played alot of the retro final fantasys which IMO can be just as kool as the newer ones (in a retro kindof way).
