You cant dismiss the existance of ghosts trying to proove they dont exist is just about pointless, and going around saying they do exist whithout evidence is just asking for trouble, so just keep an open mind.

I'm not exactly saying that they don't. In all truth, science can't prove or disprove the existance of ghosts, but it can help to give an explaination. As I had said before, I believe that they truely exist in the person's mind. I don't believe they exist for everyone, and I'm not so sure they have a physical presence in the world. However, I'm sure that they could help a person through a hard time -much like a near-death experience to a lesser extent- without truely existing. People that have had NDEs often turn their lives around. After all, although a dream is always a dream, it doesnt always have to stop existing in real life. Thus, I believe that ghosts *do* exist, just not to everyone. I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything, that's just my opinion.

Well science cant disaproove of ghosts but we can bring something up that science cant explain like lets say a full bodied apperition that everone can see, it may not be a ghost but many people would believe that it is, but if you yourself just saw something you think is a ghost dont expect other people to believe you. Thats my take on the subject.

Many of these things can be easily dimissed as hallucinations. And what a lot of people don't realize is that it is actually possible for more than one person to hallucinate and see the same thing.

Yeah your right Lobstrosity. They can be dismissed as hallucinations. But, how many people in the world today would rather say they are having hallucinations or seeing something that is there. Actually this reminds me of The Yellow Wallpaper; If you have read it you know what it is about. But, in short a lady named Jane goes Nut from staying in a room for like way too long and she has nothing to do and is unable to do nothing but stare at this discusting yellow wallpaper. But, soon she comes to like the wallpaper and see designs and whatnot and a lady in the wallpaper. Is she really there no. Her mind is tricking her. And she eventually goes crazy. And after tearing down the wallpaper, she believes that she is the lady that was "in" the wallpaper. So, yeah people have to realize that even if they are there they might not be. But, I still believe in ghost sometimes it might be my mind playing tricks other times it might be reality. I wont know. But, yeah.

Ok heres an explanation, I logged into the forums today to see the recent thread in the debate board entitled "Gays vs Lesbians" yeah im not going to go any further, plus in pretty much all active threads killall had posted several swears and threats to people.
Spike here felt bad because he recruited him so he replied to wherever killall posted saying that he wasnt responsible for what killall was saying, so I used my admin powers to delete all posts made by killall (yes me and vash have a power called "Delete Posts by User"), so spikes message was left behind, its best just to ignore it because its all over now.

I say ghosts (ghosts sightings anyway) are only hallucinations induced by the human brain's tendancy to recall those it has lost.

you say that, but say that some one moves in to a house that they know nothing about. when I say nothing about I mean the history of the house. except for say.... that a family lived there and that they were happy. then they moved for what ever reason. then the guy who just moved in and knows nothing really about the old owners has never seen them or talked to them or any thing. the guy who moved in then starts to see some thing that he can not explain. like some thing moved or a figer in the night or voices or foot steps. then after the guy hears or sees this enough starts to ask around. then gets a hold of the old owners and then asks them about it. they then tell him or her that some one died in the house. then the guy seeks out professional help and by professional I mean a real paranormal investigator. not a "psychic" that cant even tell you what your moms name is some one that went to school for the area then they come back with confirmation of a ghost. see that person would not of lost any one and did not have any knowledge of the death. its very possible just because you cant explain it completely does not mean it does not exist or happen. I mean people could not explain lighting so they thought it was god. but we now how it happens and people cant explain ghost all the way so they think "no way" or "its true". as of right now its a matter of opinion theres no hard proof that it does not happen. there is more proof that it does happen. but some of that proof can not be credible. so it really comes down to whether or not you believe. my self I do cause I have seen ghost's my self. and I was completely awake and was not hallucinating. I know what a hallucination is like so I can tell the difference.

Well it's not like a true, drug induced hallucination, it would be more like your brain playing tricks on you. And of course it's all just a matter of opinion, because there is no proof of ghosts, and by definition it is kinda hard to prove something doesn't exist. Either way, the concept of ghosts is too far fetched for me, so I choose not to believe in them, or that any stories or sightings of them that I hear about are true.

Im going to have to say that for the most part Lobstrosity , you are right... most people who claim they saw a ghost arent lieing, they saw something but whether it is a ghost is questionable... however science can never proove that ghosts dont exist and ghost hunting is a fun hobby too.

like I said, you don't prove that things don't exist, you assume they don't and try to prove that they do
